The high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) technique is among
the oldest and most frequently used chiropractic techniques. Most chiropractic
clinical research has focused on the evaluating efficacy of this form of spinal
manipulation.

A 2010 review of clinical data concluded that spinal
manipulation is helpful for several conditions in addition to back pain,
including migraine and cervicogenic (neck-related) headaches, neck pain, upper-
and lower-extremity joint conditions, and whiplash-associated disorders. *1

There are many types of HVLA manipulation approaches. This
article describes just the most HVLA spinal manipulation techniques:

Diversified technique: This technique is the form of
high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that is traditionally associated with
chiropractic manual adjustments. For this method, chiropractors apply a short
(low-amplitude), quick (high-velocity) thrust over restricted joints (one at a
time) with the goal of restoring normal range of motion in the joint. The
patient’s body is positioned in specific ways to optimize the adjustment of the
spine.

Thompson Terminal Point (or Drop) technique: This technique
is the one that I use the most in my office due to the least amount of pain and
the most effective adjustment.

Doctor Clay Thompson patented the Thompson Drop Table in
1957, and today it is used by chiropractors around the world to help patients
improve posture, gain strength and flexibility and prevent injuries. The
Thompson Drop provides a full-spine technique through use of an adjusting table
equipped with a pneumatically driven drop system. This system quickly lowers
the section of your body that corresponds with the area of the spine that’s
being adjusted. This includes the dorsal, lumber and pelvic areas.

Doctor David Thomson offers patients high-speed thrusts,
while using minimal force. While the thrust begins needed movement, the quick
drop brings your joint through the rest of its range of motion.

This involves specialized treatment tables that have
sections that drop a short distance during an HVLA thrust, with the premise
that the dropping of the table piece facilitates the movement of the joint.
This adjustment approach is sometimes used in addition to or, in place of, a
more traditional diversified HVLA adjustment. Here, the traditional
"cracking sound" may or may not occur and therefore this type of
manipulation may also be considered a form of mobilization, or a gentle
adjustment approach.

The sound often heard during an HVLA manipulation is called
cavitation. The pop is caused by a release of gas when the joint is pushed a
short distance past its passive range of motion of the joint. The mechanism is
similar to cracking ones knuckles.

Some clinicians and patients consider an audible pop
necessary for the treatment to be successful, although there is no scientific
physiological data from studies with large patient populations to confirm this
belief. This poping sound is truly just a side effect not true. The objective
is to first align the pelvis, then the mid back with the pelvis and then finally
to align the neck or cervical spine with the rest of the body.

Thomson Chiropractic and Acupuncture Can Treat Whiplash Caused by Auto Accidents in Kaysville, UT

Auto accidents can be stressful, from dealing with insurance to taking your car to the mechanic to possibly missing work, and pain can often take a back seat to everything you have to deal with. However, seeking medical attention should always be a priority after an accident. When your body is jerked forward and then backward suddenly, whiplash can occur, and if left untreated, this injury can become chronic pain or lead to a worse injury down the line. At Thomson Chiropractic and Acupuncture, Dr. David Thomson has extensive experience and skill with treating whiplash and other injuries related to automobile accidents in Kaysville, UT.

Whiplash is a term applied to injuries that occur to the neck when it is whipped in one direction and jolted in another. Although this injury is common during auto accidents, it can also be incredibly damaging. Many whiplash injuries involve sprains—which happen when the ligaments that support, protect and restrict vertebral movement are torn—and strains—which occur when muscles and tendons in the neck are stretched beyond their normal limits. Even the discs between vertebrae in the cervical spine can be torn with whiplash, resulting in disc herniation.

The most common symptoms of whiplash include pain and stiffness in the neck and headaches at the base of the skull, and these symptoms can last for weeks or months, and even years if left untreated. Dr. Thomson can accelerate healing and ensure that your injury does not persist by providing quality chiropractic care. With adjustments, therapeutic exercise, soft tissue treatment and massage, the chiropractor can help control your pain and reduce muscle spasms.

If you’ve been in an automobile accident, schedule an appointment with Dr. David Thomson at Thomson Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Kaysville, UT to ensure that your accident doesn’t cause you pain long after it is over. Heat or cold therapy can provide a surprising amount of pain relief for
most types of back and neck pain. Muscle strains and pulls are some of the most

Sitting a little less each day can reap big health benefits

In a recent study participants were able to significantly reduce back and neck pain and improve their mood by sitting just 66 minutes fewer each day.

Participants in the study were sedentary office workers of average health, height, and weight. Researchers provided them with a device that allowed them to sit or stand at their desks throughout the day during the 7 week duration of the study. They were given free choice to sit or stand as much - or as little - as they felt comfortable. The group ended up sitting around one hour less each day - enough to realize statistically significant health benefits.
The necessary equipment is easy to find; a quick online search will give you hundreds of ideas for sit-to-stand devices for your desk.

See Ergonomics of the Office and Workplace: An Overview

In that relatively short period of 7 weeks, the office workers reported a statistically significant reduction in upper back and neck pain. They also reported feeling generally more comfortable, less low back pain, and less wrist pain.
SMALL thing. The released pressure restores health to A man, and THAT is a BIG
thing to THAT man.

THAT man by a thousand men, and you step up the physical and mental welfare of
a city. Multiply THAT man by a million, and you increase the efficiency of a

is a SMALL thing, worlds considered. A subluxation is small, man considered.
The alignment of bones in the spine, is small. The neural canal, in a spine, is
also SMALL. Yet, that bone, small as it is; crowding in upon the neural canal,
small as it is, acts as a governor to the destiny of man’s thots and functions;
for it, in normal position permits a free flow, or in subluxation interferes
with a free flow of all that force with which man thinks and acts. Man lives
when he CAN think and act. Man dies when he CEASES to create thot and perform
motion. Man becomes sick when thot and function are below par. Therefore, the
alignment of the spine may be a SMALL thing, but it is the BIGGEST thing in

Many people think of the causes of stress as being mental or emotional, such as having financial difficulty or losing a loved one. You may not realize that stress can also be caused by numerous physical factors. Examples of physical stress include visible conditions such as a broken foot or migraine headaches. Physical stress also includes invisible conditions such as parasitic infections and food sensitivities. Invisible physical stress can take the greatest toll on your health, because it can persist for years without any symptoms, and often goes undiagnosed and untreated.

Adrenal Hormone
Your adrenal gland produces hormones that help your body to cope with stress. Under chronic stress these glands becomes fatigued, impairing hormone production and balance. To resolve stress-related symptoms and health problems, the adrenal hormones must be balanced. It is now possible to assess the health of your adrenal glands and pinpoint hormone imbalances. This saliva test is inexpensive, easy to use and it evaluates the adrenal glands and identifies hormone imbalances. It provides scientific guidance, so that I can develop a specific treatment plan to balance your adrenal hormones and correct health problems caused by stress.

Sex Hormones
The adrenal stress profile evaluates cortisol and DHEA levels and directs therapies that help your body handle stress. I may also choose to measure levels of sex-specific hormones-helping women through menstrual cycles or menopause, and assisting men with their own midlife challenge, commonly referred to as andropause.
For many people with back pain or neck pain, the prospect of
a long trip can be daunting. The seat in
cars, airplanes, buses, and trains aren’t always the most comfortable and
sitting still for an extended time can in and of itself aggravate painful areas
in the back and neck. The following tips
are offered to help reduce or avoid overall back pain and discomfort while
traveling.

Lift Luggage in Stages

Back strain often occurs near the end of one’s range of
motion when lifting a heavy item. For
this reason, experts recommend moving slowly when lifting a heavy piece of
luggage and breaking the action into smaller parts whenever possible. For example, when lifting a bag into an
overhead bin, it can first be lifted to the top of the seat, then into the bin
in a separate motion. Similarly, loading
a suitcase in the trunk of a car can be broken into steps, such as lifting it
first to a chair or stepstool, then lifting it into the trunk. Other important lifting tips include:

Bend at the knees and use leg muscles rather than back
muscles to lift

Avoid twisting the low back while lifting; instead, pivot
with the feet;

Carry heavy items as close to the body as possible;

Distribute weigh evenly on each side of the body;

If carrying one shoulder bag, switch sides often to avoid
stressing one side of the back.

Bring Your Own Back Support

Seats in cars, trains, planes etc. often don’t provide the
right type of support for the lower back and/or neck. A lumbar support pillow
can be used to make your seat more comfortable and support your lower
back. If you don’t have one or forget to
bring it, a jacket, sweater or blanket rolled up can also provide support for
the inward curve of the low back. This
is often particularly important if traveling coach class on a long flight, as
many airplane eats lack low back support.
In this case, an airplane pillow or blanket placed between the seat and
low back can work well. An inflatable
travel pillow that fits around the neck can help avoid neck strain by providing
head support while resting or sleeping in a sitting position during travel.

Support Your Feet

Proper support for the low back also requires bottom-up
leverage from your feet. If your feet
are not placed on a firm surface while sitting, additional stress is
transferred to your low back. Therefore,
if your seat is too high, try to rest your feet on a footrest (or something
that can act as a footrest) to keep your knees at a right angle and avoid
stressing the low back. While driving,
resting both feet on the floor provides more support for your lower back than
if one foots is on the gas, so you may consider using cruise control for longer
drives.

Move as Much as Possible

The spine is designed to move. Sitting in one position for
extended periods of time stiffens the back muscles, which can put stress on the
spine. Get up and stretch and move
around frequently – every 20 to 30 minutes if possible – to move your core body
muscles. Importantly, movement
stimulates blood flow and blood brings important nutrients and oxygen to th4e
structures of the back which helps prevent soft tissues in the low back from
stiffening and aching after sitting for a long time. Even 10 seconds of movement and stretching is
better than sitting still. Movement also
helps prevent blood clots from forming in the leg (called deep vein
thrombosis), which is one of the most dangerous risks of sitting sill for long
periods.

Quick and Easy Pain Relief

If back pain does flare up while you’re traveling, one of
the fastest ways to get relief is applying a cold pack or alternating ice and
heat. When traveling, materials such as
ice and hot packs are usually easily accessible and affordable. For example, you can fill any type of plastic
bag with ice and apply to the painful area such as placing a small bag of ice
between your low back and he seatback while you’re driving or sitting in a
plane or train. There are also
disposable, portable hot packs that heat up after you open them, so you can
bring them on your travels and open and apply them as needed. Commercial heat wraps are available that wrap
around the middle of the body and incorporate heating units in the low back
area of the band. Such types of heat
wraps last for several hours, making them ideal to provide back comfort during
lengthy travel. However, too much heat
can cause swelling and therefore, alternating ice and heat for 10-15 minutes
each, and avoiding prolonged heat is best.

In a world of sophisticated medical care, a simple ice massage can still be one of the more effective, proven methods to treat a sore lower back or neck. It is effective when used either alone or in combination with other Chiropractic or Acupuncture.

For patients experiencing back pain, ice therapy is quick, free, easy to do, and it can provide significant relief for many types of back pain, and is especially effective for a sore back caused by lower back muscle strain.

In thicker of the body IE: low back 20 minutes 3-4 times daily is a good beginning. for areas such as the neck and exrtemitys 10 to 15 minutes is ADEQUATE. I personaly use a clay filled Ice pck found here: http://tinyurl.com/m2uh6m9 Amazon. there is one Caveat if you do not have the "prime account" SHIPPING WILL BE ABOUT AS MUCH AS THE ice pack, so if you need to get a few let me know and I can get it with free shipping! Each new patient is given a very detailed "anti inflammatory protocol, this takes about 15 minutes to go over, but it is also on my website.

Many of the body and mind’s ailments can be healed on their own through acupuncture. Acupuncture encourages natural healing and focuses on various pressure points throughout the body. Chiropractor Dr. David B. Thomson B.Sc. D.C. of Thomson Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Kaysville, UT believes that acupuncture promotes a healthy body and mind by restoring the flow of a patient’s Qi, or their natural energy.

Through acupuncture, Dr. David Thomson helps heal patient pain and discomfort stemming from a variety of medical conditions, including headaches, back pain, tennis elbow, dental pain, arthritis, bronchitis, sprains, hypertension, nausea, and many others. Patients can also address mood disorders, like depression and anxiety through acupuncture. In Kaysville, UT, the procedure begins by locating the area of the problem and placing fine, needle-thin needles in the pressure points. In our office we do Trigger point injections, the injection

adhesions in the neck, back, or extremities. The injections are homeopathic and
are made in Germany. The ampoules used in Biopuncture and trigger point

Trigger point Injections or Biopuncture involve the use of a
The most common reaction to spinal manipulation is aching or soreness in the spinal joints or muscles. If this aching or soreness occurs, it is usually within the first few hours post-treatment and does not last longer than 24 hours after the chiropractic adjustment. In my office I review this with every patent. And the recommendations I give patients is to drink ½ the body weight in plain good water. Use ice for 10 to 20 minutes after the adjustment.

Documented reports of any problems are very rare.
In the hands of experienced chiropractors, cervical manipulation renders beneficial results with no known adverse side effects.
With that in mind, discussion concerning reactions to spinal manipulation from the chiropractor is encouraged between the patient and the treating doctor. Obtaining consent for chiropractic adjustment is recommended in writing once questions are addressed by the chiropractor.
In about ten percent of the time, the pain can become so severe that it interferes with the ability to work or carry out normal, everyday activities. Risk factors for back pain during pregnancy include a pregnant mother who has a physically strenuous job who’s continued working or perhaps is taking care of other children. Also, a history of low back pain prior to the pregnancy predisposes a pregnant mother to back pain during that pregnancy.

Common causes of back pain during pregnancy are typically related to two general structures of the lower back, that is the sacroiliac joint – the SI joint – as well as the lumbar spine. There are two reasons why the lower back and these structures in particular are more affected specifically in pregnancy. One is because as a mother’s abdomen grows outward, the center of gravity changes and the pull of the weight of the baby, of the fluid, of the amniotic sac – all those structures pull anteriorly, pulls towards the front, and increases the curvature of the lumbar spine. Also, the sacroiliac joints – or the joints that connect the sacrum to the ilium (to the pelvis) – are a fulcrum point, it’s a point of maximum leverage where the abdomen can pull forward as a lever arm and pull against the SI joint and cause pain in that area and painful inflammation.

One of the important is that mothers produce certain hormonal substances and have hormonal changes which allow the pelvic girdle to open up to allow the passage of the baby. Unfortunately, these hormonal changes aren’t specific for the pubic symphysis, which is where we like to see a little play to allow the passage of the baby’s head. The hormonal changes cause relaxation in multiple ligament structures, including the SI joint and the lower lumbar spine at its point where it’s most affected by the weight of the baby you have this compounding effect.

In order to treat low back pain in pregnancy, the first thing that should be done is it should be preemptively treated. That is a women who plans to get pregnant should work on core strengthening program before pregnancy. Exercise in pregnancy is extremely safe and even high levels of exercise are safe as long as the mother is doing these exercises before pregnancy, as long as their body is conditioned, and as long as they don’t exercise to exhaustion, then most likely the exercises are safe. So, if a mother has a strong core, strong abdominal musculature, a strong back, obliques – if the core is strong, then those muscles will help support the baby and support the spine so that there is not an exaggeration of that curvature of the spine and undue pressure placed on the sacroiliac joints.

During pregnancy, the exercises should be maintained and there are several different programs that someone can go to including Pilates or yoga or even physical therapy to teach someone who doesn’t know which exercises to do. Also, chiropractic manipulations as well as osteopathic manipulations – which are geared towards a healthcare practitioner applying certain forces and treating the actual curvature and muscles surrounding the spine – can oftentimes be quite effective in treating pregnancy-related pain. A mother should maintain their activity level, do stretches, and keep their core strong. Oftentimes a pelvic support belt – which can be purchased at a medical supply store with the guidance of your doctor – can be used as an additional support device to help with the relaxation of those joints in the lower back and pelvic area.

The back and spine are designed to provide a great deal of strength, protecting the highly sensitive spinal cord and nerve roots, yet flexible, providing for mobility in all directions.

However, there are many different parts of the spine that can produce back pain, such as irritation to the large nerve roots that run down the legs and arms, irritation to small nerves inside the spine, strains to the large back muscles, as well as any injury to the disc, bones, joints or ligaments in the spine.

Acute Back Pain vs. Chronic Back Pain Video
Watch Acute vs Chronic Back Pain Video
Acute back pain comes on suddenly and usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks. Chronic back pain is typically described as lasting for more than three months.

Back pain can take on a wide variety of characteristics:

The pain may be constant, intermittent, or only occur with certain positions or activities
The pain may remain in one spot or refer or radiate to other areas
It may be a dull ache, or a sharp or piercing or burning sensation
The problem may be in the neck or low back but may radiate into the leg or foot causing sciatica. regular chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy will help with bothe chronic and acute back pain.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8998087181544878748.post-7970559533095049902013-11-15T15:59:00.003-08:002013-11-15T15:59:59.076-08:00Vaccine fraud exposed: Measles and mumps making a huge comeback because vaccines are designed to fail, say Merck virologistsFrom NaturalNews.com
Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/042864_measles_outbreak_mumps_vaccines_scientific_fraud.html#ixzz2klFPEvuV
(NaturalNews) Disclaimer: I am not an opponent of the theory of inoculation. Nor am I opposed to science. What I am opposed to is fraudulent science, and that's what this article is all about.

Measles and mumps are making a huge comeback in the United States, but doctors and journalists all make the same critical error in understanding why. They blame "parents who don't vaccinate their kids" as the cause, but the real cause -- as revealed by whistleblowing scientists working for top vaccine manufacturers -- is that measles and mumps vaccines are designed to fail from the start.

Scientific fraud, it turns out, is an inherent part of the vaccine industry.

How do we know? Because whistleblowers who worked in the industry have found the courage to speak out and tell the truth. These people are the Edward Snowdens of the vaccine industry.

Merck falsified its mumps vaccine efficacy results, say former employees

Merck knowingly falsified its mumps vaccine test results to fabricate a "95% efficacy rate" say former Merck virologists Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski in their shocking False Claims Act document.

As I wrote last year, " In order to do this, Merck spiked the blood test with animal antibodies in order to artificially inflate the appearance of immune system antibodies."

Merck also added animal antibodies to blood samples to achieve more favorable test results, though it knew that the human immune system would never produce such antibodies, and that the antibodies created a laboratory testing scenario that "did not in any way correspond to, correlate with, or represent real life ... virus neutralization in vaccinated people," according to the complaint.

Merck, of course, denies the claims, just like all the drug companies deny ever engaging in bribery, or using children for medical experiments, or ghostwriting "scientific" studies that get published in science journals, or conspiring to suppress competing generic drugs and so on.

Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski are simply telling us what we already suspected: that Merck falsifies the efficacy of their vaccines in order to make them appear to be working when they actually aren't. Why would a drug company do such a thing? Consider the fact that Merck has both motive and opportunity.

Why drug companies design vaccines to fail

The vaccination dogma is so deeply embedded in the minds of doctors, journalists and the public, that any time a communicable disease starts to spread, everybody immediately leaps to the false conclusion that "more vaccines are needed." This is very nearly a Pavlovian reaction in the minds of the brainwashed masses. "Spread of disease = lack of vaccines."

Thus, the spread of disease actually boosts vaccine sales. Epidemics are a "marketing tool" to create demand for a profitable product that people can be convinced to purchase over and over again, year after year, whether it works or not.

And how do you create that demand? You engineer an epidemic by making sure your own vaccine products don't work. Fear drives people to get vaccinated, so fear is used as the primary marketing tool.

But why hasn't the con been exposed yet? Why haven't scientists announced that most of the children afflicted with measles and mumps are the very same children who were vaccinated? One study showed that 97 percent of children afflicted with mumps had already been vaccinated against mumps.

In 2010, a mumps outbreak spread in New Jersey, and 77 percent of children afflicted with mumps had already been vaccinated against mumps.

The same is true with measles. Most measles outbreaks spread among those who have been vaccinated against measles.

When a swine flu outbreak swept through Britain in 2010, it turns out that 70 percent of those infected had already been vaccinated against swine flu.

Far from protecting people from disease outbreaks, vaccines often promote the pandemic they claim to prevent.

Vaccines are ASSUMED to work, not proven to work

Why does the industry keep getting away with this fraud? The answer is because nobody ever compares infection rates of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated people. They all just ASSUME vaccines work because that is the dogma of modern medicine. Assumption becomes "fact" in the minds of brainwashed medical experts.

This is one of the tenants of the fraud-based medical system: Vaccines are assumed to work 100% of the time, without exception, and anyone who questions this is immediately branded a heretic. There is no tolerance whatsoever for any critical thinking or scientific inquiry when it comes to vaccines. And God forbid if you bring up the issue of mercury in vaccines, as the vaccine industry apparently believes that mercury magically becomes non-toxic when used in vaccines and injected into the body.

Thus, vaccines that fail (due to low efficacy) are never detected or even questioned. The fraud continues right under our noses. So a vaccine company can easily put a mumps or measles vaccine into circulation that is designed to fail while actually weakening the immune system from the mercury, formaldehyde, MSG and aluminum that are still used in vaccines today.

This actually causes an increase in the spread of these diseases, resulting in more alarmist media stories about the "spread of measles and mumps" which then results in more parents rushing to CVS pharmacies to get their children injected with yet another useless vaccine.

How's that for an insidious profit model?

But it's even worse than that. While some vaccines are simply designed to fail, other vaccines are designed to cause outbreaks of disease.

Some vaccines are actively spiked with live viruses to cause pandemics

As Natural News previously exposed, the vaccine industry was caught shipping live viruses to vaccine manufacturers of flu vaccines in 18 countries.

This was done by none other than Baxter International, Inc. one of the top suppliers of "weakened" flu virus material for use in vaccines. Except in this case, they weren't weakened. Vaccines made with this material simply gave people the flu!

In the realm of desktop computing, many people believe that anti-virus companies write and release viruses in order to cause fear and boost demand for their products. It's an incredibly effective way to sell more products. All you have to do is pay a group of hackers a couple of million dollars to keep writing viruses that get covered in the mainstream media. The scarier the story, the more people buy anti-virus software. I happen to know firsthand that McAfee uses dishonest scare tactics to sell their security software services, claiming your website is infected when it actually isn't.

Vaccine companies, it turns out, use the same tactic. From time to time, they allow live viruses into the flu shots, thereby spreading influenza and causing the very kind of fear and panic that drives people into pharmacies to buy more vaccines.

The WHO and CDC are all part of it too, stirring up irrational fear and panic like they did with the H5N1 virus a few years ago. It turns out that WHO panel members receive kickbacks from drug companies to engineer these anti-science scare stories.

During the swine flu pandemic, it was revealed that 5 of the 15 members of a WHO advisory panel had financial ties to the very same drug companies who would financially benefit from the pandemic. That's called "conflict of interest" in any other industry, yet for some reason it is fully tolerated in the fraudulent vaccine industry.

In 2010, an outstanding article by Dr. Gary Null explained much of this in excruciating detail. Read that article here on Natural News.

The deeper you dig into the vaccine industry and its longstanding practice of scientific fraud, misrepresentation, fear mongering and "medical false flags," the more you realize just what a total con the vaccine industry has become.

Read more:
http://www.naturalnews.com/029124_flu_vaccin...
http://www.naturalnews.com/036328_Merck_mump...

That's right, dirt. Soil is the primary factor in nutrition because much of our food comes from the earth. The
human body is composed literally of earth, if you think about it. The minerals that are essential to how the
body functions are connected directly to the state of our soil. If an element is missing from our soil, it will
be missing from the foods we eat; hence, from our bodies. Unfortunately, that is the reality these days.
Much of the Earth's soil is depleted, and depleted soil doesn't produce healthy, nutrient- and mineral-rich
plants. Moreover, crops produced in depleted soil are more prone to invasion by insects, viruses, fungi, etc.
Insects and infectious organisms get rid of unhealthy vegetation and don't typically attack truly healthy
plants.
The Perils of Modern, Inorganic Farming
Much of the modern world is now aware that our industrialized methods of
farming have not only depleted the soil, but also have created a cycle that
requires pesticides to protect the unhealthy crops grown on depleted soil.
The commercial applications of agriculture have depleted the soil of
precious, organically complexed trace minerals and hindered the ability of
plants to utilize those elements. That means our food is nutritionally
deficient right from the source. Our food is then refined and processed,
which further degrades its nutritional value!
Who suffers? We all do. More than 30 organically complexed trace minerals
are necessary to produce healthy, nutrient-rich crops, yet most current
farming methods routinely put back only three to five of them. And that's only a part of the problem.
Inorganic (synthetic/dead/toxic), ammonium-based fertilizers, along with herbicides and pesticides, kill
precious microorganisms in the soil that are essential to the creation of organic mineral complexes. We
have used up the available trace minerals in our soil and destroyed the means of replenishing these soilbased
microorganisms.
Is there a consensus among health care professionals that depleted soil is a nutritional concern? While
some diehards believe you can avoid supplements if you eat a "balanced diet," it's a verified fact that most
of our livestock feeds contain nutritional supplements. Without supplemental nutrients being added to the
feed, far too many animals were getting ill. What does that tell you? Grain doesn't possess enough
nutrients to keep the livestock healthy. If our livestock can't stay healthy eating our modern crops, how can
we?
Prior to the 1930s, farmers fertilized their crops with organic substances. Unfortunately, modern, economicbased
agriculture has virtually replaced all the critical organic complexes with inorganic (synthetic/toxic)
fertilizers, which cause toxicity in water runoff and further imbalance the delicate nature of our soil. In the
1930s, when farmers began to add inorganic fertilizers to the soil, it was presumed that biological
organisms could assimilate minerals in any form. Unfortunately, this is not the case. We are now
discovering inorganic minerals can't be assimilated easily by plants; they must first be combined with
organically complex matter before they can be used. No wonder our food is less and less nutritious. No
wonder it lacks taste, and no wonder modern farmers have to apply more and more toxic pesticides,
herbicides and chemicals every year just to get their crops to market.
Organic vs. Inorganic Trace Minerals
Let's look at a similar dilemma. The human body is intended to derive minerals from organic complexes
supplied in the foods we eat. Unfortunately, these critical, disease-preventing, organic nutrients aren't
present when our food is grown in depleted soil. And, just like the farmer who has attempted to alter the
soil with inorganic toxic chemicals and fertilizers, we have tried to add inorganic trace minerals to our diet
in the form of colloidal supplements, with even worse potential consequences. It's important to reiterate
that most trace minerals are not recognized, absorbed or utilized by living tissue unless they're carried in
organic complexes.
Even the best inorganic trace minerals (e.g., coral,
colloidal and/or ionic) are extremely large and
insoluble, with high atomic weights and large sizes
ranging from 1-100 nm. These molecules are giant
compared to organically complexed minerals, and might
be rejected at the cellular level due to their synthetic
composition, size or weight. Moreover, they eventually
might accumulate in the body, as they are stored in
extracellular spaces, outside the cell's interstitial fluid
and fatty tissue. Over the course of time, this can lead
to severe toxicity and disease.
How different are organically complexed minerals compared to colloidal minerals? Organically complexed
trace minerals are definitively different in that they are naturally chelated - ultra tiny - and they have ultralow
molecular weight. They are approximately 50 to 100 times smaller and much lighter in weight. They are
physically small enough that they easily can be carried into the cells of our bodies. They are bound by
carbon (living matter) and have innumerous health benefits, aiding in both intracellular and extracellular
detoxification. Thus, when trace minerals are combined with organic matter, they become an enriching
meal of living minerals rather than a toxic plate of inert, dead rocks.
The function of organic trace minerals is to be systemic catalysts. They are activators - intracellular "spark
plugs." They either "kick off" or "speed up" much of the chemistry that goes on in our bodies. Without trace
minerals, there is no life. They specifically are responsible for carrying much of our nutrition, glycogens,
glucose, etc., to our cells.
Most scientists would agree we need three basic ingredients to sustain life: water, oxygen and organically
complexed (carbon-based/living) trace minerals. Not even vitamins or enzymes can perform without trace
minerals. When trace minerals are insufficient, numerous processes either slow down or come to a halt until
the mineral banks can be replenished. Knowing this, it's easy to see why both plants and humans are
becoming increasingly susceptible to disease. It's also easy to understand what Linus Pauling, (twice
awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine) meant when he categorically explained to the 74th Congress of the
United States, "Every ailment, every sickness and every disease can be traced back to an organic tracemineral
deficiency." It has become alarmingly evident that we are severely deficient in one of the most
basic components necessary to sustain health - organically complexed trace minerals.
In a way, the problem with depleted soil is similar to the problems of using
antibiotics. Antibiotics kill the harmful bacteria that are making us sick, but they kill the friendly flora in the
intestinal tract at the same time. Antibiotics appear to cure the infection, but in reality, long-term use might
weaken the immune system, making us more likely to suffer from future illnesses. Similarly, as the "good"
microorganisms in the soil are wiped out, the vegetation loses its ability to gain the proper balance of
minerals from the soil. The end result: Our bodies take on these deficient foods and become impaired and
imbalanced.
Potential Solutions
If our soil and crops lack essential minerals, we need to supplement our
diets to achieve true wellness. All biological organisms (including humans)
require organically complexed trace minerals in order to maintain health
and prevent disease. Decades ago, if we had only protected and nourished
our soil from hazardous and toxic chemicals, these critical organic
complexes would naturally be in the foods we eat today. Unfortunately,
they are not.
But will any old multivitamin off the shelves of our grocery or drug store do
the trick? The short answer is no. Much like our soil, most supplements available on the market today are
full of synthetic chemical nutrients instead of the organic nutrients our bodies need.
How do we get these complexes back into the soil, and what can we do in the meantime to replenish the
organic trace minerals in our bodies? A piece of the answer to both questions lies in a substance called
fulvic acid. Fulvic acid (not to be confused with folic acid) is the end result of repetitive plant decomposition,
and is the first biological step in changing inorganic trace minerals into organically complexed, soluble trace
minerals that can be used by both plants and animals.
Fulvic acid is produced as plant matter decays over long periods of time and utilized in trace amounts by
microorganisms in the soil. The process takes hundreds of years and can't be duplicated in the laboratory.
Fulvic acid has an extremely small (ultra-chelated), low molecular weight that might beneficially modify
many essential biochemical, electrochemical and metabolic processes, and yet, the greater scientific
community still is largely unaware of its role.
Further research might show that fulvic acid can be used to resuscitate some of our soil and possibly our
food sources and bodies. Until this can be accomplished, high-quality supplements remain our best defense
against food devoid of life-sustaining, organically complexed minerals and nutrients.
Osteoarthritis,
also known as degenerative joint disease, affects up to 30 million Americans,
mostly women and usually those over 45 or 50 years of age. The goal of any osteoarthritis treatment plan
is to increase the strength of the joints, relieve pain, improve or maintain
joint movement and reduce the debilitating effects of the disease.

Osteoarthritis Overview

For many,
osteoarthritis pain may become markedly worse over time or with specific
activities. Characteristic signs and
symptoms of osteoarthritis include:

Stiffness. A common marker of
osteoarthritis is stiffness in the joint that is most pronounced first thing is
the morning, or after a prolonged period of inactivity (such as sitting in a
car or airplane). The stiffness usually
resolves within 30 minutes of light activity, as the joints “warm up” through
gentle movement.

Pain. Another common symptom is pain in the joint
that worsens during or after too much movement.
The pain may be experienced as a dull and aching, or sharp and
piercing. In the most severe cases of
osteoarthritis, patients may also feel pain when the joints are at rest only
moving slightly.

Soreness.
The joint may feel tender to touch or with slight pressure.

Inflexibility. Patients may experience loss of full
range of motion in the affected joint.

Swelling. The joint may swell due to excess fluid
buildup. This type of swelling is
clinically referred to as effusion. If
the swelling is severe, the joint may also feel warm to the touch.

Grating or creaking. There might be a sensation of grating or
slight grinding when moving the joint, as the surfaces of the articulating
points of the joint no longer move smoothly against each other.

Bone spurs.
Sometimes, bone bumps – which are points of the bone that grow
outward as a result of the joint friction and dysfunction – can be felt under
the skin. Bone spurs may also be
referred to as osteophytes.

Deformity.
In some types of osteoarthritis, physical deformity may be
noticeable. For example, enlarged finger
joints may result from the friction which causes bony enlargements of the
finger joints, or advanced degeneration of knee cartilage can lead to an
outward, or bowlegged, curvature of the knee.

While osteoarthritis
pain is usually felt in the affected join, for some patients the pain may be
referred to other areas of the body. For
example, hip osteoarthritis may lead to knee pain, or spinal osteoarthritis may
affect nerves that cause pain, numbness or other symptoms in the part of the
body that the nerve leads to.

When the
hips or knees are affected, walking can be a significant source of pain, and accommodation pain may induce a
limp. Pain can be felt in areas outside
the damaged joints, including the buttocks, groin, or thigh and may vary in
severity from a dull ache to a sharp pain.

Cervical Osteoarthritis (Neck Arthritis)

Just as the
lumbar spine, the facet joints in the cervical spine can degenerate and lead to
arthritis in the neck. Many terms are
used interchangeably to refer to cervical osteoarthritis, including cervical
spondylosis, degenerative joint disease, or simply neck arthritis.

Treatments
for cervical osteoarthritis are usually nonsurgical and may include one or a
combination of the following:

People with
spine and joint pain often ask me if they should be working out during the
first phase of pain as they are under treatment, Caution should be used when
specific high impact workouts are involved. For example the new popular
"ZUMBA" is definitely not advised when a low back or cervical injury
is present. And covering up the symptoms by taking drugs and anti-inflammatory medications will prolong the healing process. The best advice I give to my patients is that
all joints need movement in order to replenish the blood and synovial fluid, this
fluid carries the nutrition to help heal the individual injured joint. It is
also important to remember that the muscles need to maintain integrity. In the
past, the traditional medical approach was bed rest. This turned out to be bad
advice, low impact stretching and walking have proven to be a much safer way to
continue to heal and maintain the joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. It is
very important to stay active but not using high impact workouts. Stay activebut use yoga or other stretches that may not cause damage but may cause discomfort or some minor pain to occur but as long
as you understand what the nature of your individual injury is you can make
correct decisions. I can and am willing to help you to maintain healthy joints
and muscle structure. Keep the muscles strong, but you really don't want to
work out so much that you may damage your spine or joints. Be wise and be
gentle while your body heals. It may be difficult to distinguish some pain and
what would be detrimental.

This article explains what patients can expect during the first chiropractic consultation. This initial
consultation involves the chiropractor completing a thorough chiropractic exam
lasting 45 minutes or more.

Some people conduct an initial
interview with the chiropractor either over the phone or in person that is
focused on discussion (e.g. about the chiropractor's philosophy, expertise and
general approach, and the patient's preferences) and does not include a
clinical exam.

In preparation for the
chiropractic consultation, the patient will be asked to fill out forms that
provide background information about his or her symptoms and condition. Types
of questions typically include:

Patients are usually asked to
provide information on family medical history, any pre-existing medical
conditions or prior injuries, and previous and current health providers and
treatments.

The Chiropractic Exam

A thorough chiropractic exam
includes general tests such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and
reflexes, as well as specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess:

Range of motion of the affected
part

Muscle tone

Muscle strength

Neurological integrity

Further chiropractic tests may
be necessary to assess the affected area, such as having the patient move in a
specific manner, posture analysis, or chiropractic manipulation of the affected
body part.

Based upon the results of the
patient's history and chiropractic exam, diagnostic studies may be helpful in
revealing pathologies and identifying structural abnormalities to more
accurately diagnose a condition.

Diagnostic studies are not
always necessary during the chiropractic exam, and should only be undertaken if
the chiropractor has a good reason to believe that the X-ray or other test will
provide information needed to guide the patient's treatment program.

The most common diagnostic
studies during chiropractic exams include:

X-ray exam

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
scan

Other laboratory tests

Patient Diagnosis after the
Chiropractic Exam

Findings from the combination of
the above described history, physical examination and any required diagnostic
studies lead to a specific diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is established, the
chiropractor will determine if the condition will respond to chiropractic care.

At the end of the patient's
initial visit, the chiropractor will explain the patient's:

Individualized chiropractic
treatment plan (or other treatments)

Anticipated length of
chiropractic care

Some chiropractors will also
provide the above information in written form, so the patient may take it home
and think about it and conduct their own research.

In treating the back an
adjustment in a particular area of the back or neck may be performed once or
repeated a few times during the session to ensure the adjustment is fully
achieved.
