I love working with children, one of the more remarkable experiences I have had happened about a year ago. Baby Jane (not her real name) was brought into the office by her mother. The mother told me that they were about to put tubes in the child's ears. After exhausting the many different antibiotic treatments, they had become desperate. The baby was in obvious distress, pulling at her ears and crying. Jane also had a runny nose and swelling in the neck where the lymph nodes were reacting to chronic infection. After doing a full examination I found that the infant had a vertebra in the very top of her neck that was tender and swollen on the right. This finding often causes a problem with the nerve in that area. Nerves control the immune system so by addressing the cause of the problem by taking the pressure off of the nerve the child began to improve. After one month of care, adjusting the child a total of 8 times the infections were gone and the tube surgery was canceled.
Many people mistake a chiropractic adjustment for a child as being rough or causing the neck to pop. This is NOT the way chiropractors adjust children. The child's spine is very easy to adjust and it is simply a matter of a very slight pressure placed upon the Subluxation and the babies
spine just slips into alignment.
